On Thursday, the White House unveiled more than 50 new public and private efforts to boost the use of two- non-polluting power sources— solar and energy efficiency.
Among this announcement, was plans to fund 540 renewable power and energy efficiency projects in rural areas, including 240 solar projects, and stricter rules for commercial air conditioners that could save more energy than standard ones. They also plan to partner with military bases to launch a veterans’ solar job training program.
There few steps will lower energy bills and cut heat-trapping carbon dioxide emissions by 300 million metric tons by 2030, which is equivalent to taking more than 60 million cars off the road for 1 year.
At the United Nations Climate Summit in NYC on Tuesday, the White House announced 19 major U.S. companies would be actively reducing the use of a coolant that’s used in many cars, homes, and buildings for air conditioning and refrigerating. These companies included Kroger, Target, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and DuPont.
