On Thursday, March 13, 2014, Sean Cochrane, the President and Founder of SuperGreen Solution’s, and Thomas Hsiao, SuperGreen Solution’s President of the Charlotte, Mid-Atlantic Region, were invited to the Capital to brief the President’s senior administration officials on the priorities of small businesses.
Those joining this Business Forward meeting at the White House included leaders within the U.S. Small Business Administration, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Commerce, and White House Business Council.
Sean Cochrane stated “I was extremely impressed by all of the speakers at the Business Forward meeting at the White House. I found the meetings enlightening particularly in the focus on job creation, export dollars, and the efforts to bring energy efficiency to other countries.”
To expand on those topics, Fred Baldassaro, from the U.S. Small Business Council, talked in detail about various SBA’s financial assistance programs that are designed to help small businesses through debt financing, surety bonds, and equity financing. The SBA’s Loan Programs rangefrom the 7a Loan, the most common loan program for start-ups and existing businesses, to the E200 Program, which focuses on 200 small businesses across the U.S. with highpotential for rapid expansion and job creation, to the Veterans’ Advantage Loan, designed specifically for veterans and service-disabled veterans looking to grow their small business.
Peter Davidson, Executive Director of the Loan Program Office within the U.S. Department of Energy, also said that the DOE understands loan programs, such as PACE are crucial to economic growth within the Green Energy Industry, and therefore important to many small businesses throughout the nation.
The PACE program, or Property Assessed Clean Energy, is an innovative way for home and businesses owners to finance energy efficient and renewable energy upgrades. These loans can be repaid over an assigned term, often up to 20 years through a property tax assessment of their property tax bill.
Whether its SBA Loans and programs, DOE funded loans, or PACE, these initiatives create permanent private sector jobs and strengthen our national and local economies.
Whats next locally? Thomas Hsiao, of the Charlotte Mid-Atlantic area, plans to meet with Lynn Douthett, District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration's North Carolina District Office. Douthett helps in the delivery of agency programs, such as financial assistance, management counseling, and business development though out the state of North Carolina. Through their discussions Hsiao hopes to further these White House discussions locally, and help the Small Business Administration grow jobs in the Green Industry.
